Question cant locate networkservices folder
I am running malware bytes because I have the antivirus 2009 Rogue security threat, and MB is now searching C:\documents and settings\network services\local settings\temporary internet files\contentIE5\ etc. this has hundreds of temp files that CCleaner wont clean. avg has found trojans within these files and I can not find them to delete. I went to folder options and set it to shown hidden files and folders. still no networkservices when I explore the computer from start button. I have searched and still no network services. Can you tell me how to find this to get rid of these temp files that are riddled with problems and slow the scan time down considerably?
Thank you
Madmaven

control panel, folder options, View, uncheck "hide protected operating System Files."

you have two ways to clean up the temp files

1. go to tools in IE and where you have the choice of deleting browsing and cookies you also have the choice of deleting all temp files

2. run disk cleanup off the system tools menu and check all temp files.

Unhappy Quandry,
Thank you so much!
I have found all those internet temp files. I have taken this computer from a lady at work because she kept getting the Rogue security threat antivirus2009 and I was able to remove it with malware bytes now I have spyware guard 2008, and have found 25 temp floders full of porn. not to belabor the issue but she has a teenage son and husband She bought the machine from ebay supposedly with a fresh install of XP about 3 weeks ago. These temp files were deply hidden in the path mentioned above, I found the sons, wife and husbands temps before and got rid of them easily, I did see 2 references to porn in the son's temps. My question is are temp files found in Network services etc, different from ordinary temp files. I suppose they could be from a previous user if the machine wasn't wiped, but it does appear to have little else on the computer, or is the nature of the porn web site to hide their wares from the normal eyes, or being in network services does this make them a function of a network (porn network, maybe)???? I checked my compute and although I had a temporary internet files folder it had nothing in it. I mean there were 1300 files aprox in each folder and 25 folderz! It would take more than the 3 weeks she has had the machine just to open all those pages!! I am probably recommending she let me low level the machine and reinstall windows. I am now pondering the ethics of the situation. WHat do I tell her? Either your son or husband or you are seriously obsessed with porn or the seller was ????
OH S--T! If it was my son I would really like to know but if it is her husband I dont want to go there.

it seems to be a new install
I checked some programs and it seems everything was installed on 10-17 so i guess it happened in house and not before they got it.

Cool mOTHER KNOWS BEST
It does seem that way because the mom said her son is 27YEARS OLD with 5 kids and is hardly on the computer and her husband doesn't even know how to turn it on. The only question I have is there is a web page that atempts to pop up scan.spyware.every time I open ths sons desktop between malware bytes, spy bot and AVG they cleaned out a dozen trozans, worms, and viruses, smit fraud, zlob, and more. I just turned on systemrestore and I cant wait to get rid of it. AUGHHHHHH
thanks for the help.
