Blue screen of death. Error: ialmdev5.dll
So, I keep getting a message like:
"A Problem has occurred with ialmdev5.dll. This could be caused by new software you have installed."

I updated to service pack 3(I know, a bit late). Reinstalled graphics drivers, and tried to download the Intel driver for my chipset, but it did not work. Gave me the error:
"The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer."

Blarg! I dunno what to do next. This only happens when I try to play the game Star Wars Galaxies, and I am usally able to play for maybe five min before the error shows up, I'd really like to play the game after the freaking five hour download I had to wait for it. Useful computer specs below. Thanks for any help.

ialmdev5.dll is a driver error. Possibly from your graphics card.

If your getting a blue screen you should have an error code at the bottom left of the screen. For example; Stop: 0x00000001. If you get it again post that stop error code so we can narrow it down.

The Ialmdev5.dll is a GHAL Driver and is a component from the Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows. Knowing this, update you graphics card with the latest driver.

Still like to know the stop error though.

It saysss:
Stop: 0x00000050 (0x0E20F2000, 0X000000001, 0XBFAOC63F, OXOOOOOO1).

And...I did update it, from Dell.

You could try different accelerator settings for your display and see which one performs best. Look in the Display Properties, under Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot.

Lol, thanks. Well, I clicked every link on that search, not one of them with my problem. Go figure. I suppose the problem is just my computer can't handle the game, I hope. Maybe upgrading to an actual video card will solve the problem.

I noticed in your first post it took you 5 hours to download the game. From where? Is this a free game? Did you by any chance acquire this game through file sharing methods?

Perhaps we're barking at the wrong tree. If your problem occurs only when you're playing that game, maybe the game itself contains corrupted files or the version is too old for your computer or OS. It may even contain malware as many shared files do... I'm only guessing here, forgive me if I'm wrong.

Did you scan you computer for malware?

I have scanned for malware, actually just did bout 10min ago, lol. I got the game from the Sony Station itself. It took that long for my friend too, maybe a bit shorter, but not by much. So, they just have slow servers.

Your ISP controls your bandwidth. I have had my ISP threaten to cut my bandwidth back for using too much! I answered back that I pay $53 a month for my access and I’ll download what I #@&*^% please!! I haven’t noted any cutbacks as yet…
