Exclamation Please help! Blue Screen Problems
Alright guys here's whats up,
Lately my computer has been crashing and i get blue screens with error messages on them. One reads something along the lines of kernel_data_inpage_error and lists ftdisk.sys at the end. Recently i got one that said simply the system crashed and listed a bunch of numbers in the end (0x0) types.

I went ahead and reformatted my HD and was fine for about 2 days and today it started again. I found this site through a google search and read a thread someone previously posted of a similar problem. I tried the solutions proided by some users but i do not have any CD burning software installed on my computer, which is what they thought was causing the problem.

I have not restored to a previous installation given i reformatted my HD. It might also be helpful to note that once i restart the computer, i get a no hardrive present error message and have to wait a couple of minutes before i can turn my computer back on.

Please if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it, i would like to find a solution to my problem although i'm starting to get the feeling i might be doomed and need a new laptop. In that case anyone have any ideas of a good laptop for a college student on a budget?

Try to check your computer's temperature, clean your memories ram's contacts with a plastic rubber. Also try to enter in the safe mode/prompt mode and do the command "chkdsk.exe" to search for errors in your HD

Senshi thanks for the reply! As far as the temperature how would i check that is there a program i need to DL or is it built in? Also cleaning the ram contacts is a little beyond my means right now given it is a laptop and i have never taken one apart. I'm going to try the chdsk now though, although im pretty sure i ran it not too long ago and it came back clean.

I'm going to run it again anyway and i'll report back, thanks again for the reply!

Ah, i don't know anything about notebook hardware, so don't do that in your notebook :P, well you can leave your computer turned on for five minutes, reset and see the temperature in your bios menu, also i think that there is a program called "everlast" which can show that information for you.

Do you remember the programs that you installed after reformat your computer? One of these programs could be causing the blue window, also a corromped driver can also do that, try to update your drivers and your OS

My XP install cd is a completely blank install, meaning it comes with no extra programs or even the drivers, you have to install them yourself. Since i reformatted all i have installed is Miranda IM and FoxIt reader, neither has given me problems in the past.

I was reading in the google, and in some topics the people said that this ftdisk.sys error could be an error of driver, malware or Hardware problems(HD), i don't know if it's a true but it could be a clue.
