No Sound After XP reinstall...but sound at startup
I reinstalled XP and updated the drivers, including for my soundblaster audigy 2 card and now i cannot get sound from any application; however, i can get sound (from speakers) when Windows boosts and at startup...

...any idea of what's going on?

Have you checked the "Sounds And Audio Devices" applet in the Control Panel?

Yeah make sure in Sounds and Audio in Control Panel that Soundblaster Audigy is set for all possibilities.

I have heard startup sounds from internal speakers in some units. I wonder if speakers are plugged wrong, muited or defective?

startup sounds are coming from the speakers, and they worked fine before reinstall, are plugged appropriately, not muted...

i'm just befuddled, as troubleshooter did nothing for me and everything seems fine...it's so strange
