Angry USB ports don't work upon login screen...
My computer doesn't recognize USB ports upon startup. When I turn it on, it says Floppy diskette seek failure, and I have to press F1 to continue or F2. It's always said that... and my mouse lights up and my key board lights up fine... but when I press F1 and it goes to the Windows loading screen, the lights powers off and the keyboard doesn't work.. and I can't use my mouse or keyboard when it reaches my login screen... can anyone help me? If you're talking about USB Controller under Onboard Devices, then it is enabled... so why does it not work still. ):

enter the bios (F2) and check that usb setting is enabled.some boards have a setting for the usb keyboard as well.when you enter the bios window, you will need to notice the keys to use to get into settings and how to change a particular setting.

also check in device manager Universal serial bus controllers... "usb universal host controllers" if none there then not installed. Use ps2 keyboard and mouse for the time being till you get the problem sorted.

You ahve always booted up to a choice of F1 or F2 as you state? That should not be I would pull the cmos battery for about 5 minutes to reset the bios or if that doesn't do it find the cmos jumper switch jumpers for abvout 30 seconds and then return. Then I would set bios to optimum default settings.

Yeah.. I cleaned out all the dust bunnies and stuff from the inside and it still doesn't work... and I got rid of the F2 thing by disabling the diskette drive.

It appears then to be "whacked" in Windows. The only thing I could suggest is to use a Linux Live-cd (Knoppix, Ubuntu etc) and get your files off then reformat and reinstall Windows.

Umm... okay... I decided to plug in a new keyboard and mouse.. and I went to bios, unlocked it, and cleared the event log... idk why... intuition.. and like It went to the laodign windows screen and did soemthing new.. it says:

Checking gile system C:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
The volume is dirty.

CHKDSK is verifying files (Stage 1 of 3)...
File verification complete.
CHKDSK is verifying indexes (stage 2 of 3)
Deleteing index entry WFV1.tmp in index $I30 of file 8413.
Deleting index entry A0103231.ini in index blah..

Now it's going all fast.... and it says Windows has finished checking your disk. Please wait while your computer starts....
