HP dv9000 laptop freezing on bootup ALL MODES
Ok, the previous post was closed because of no response, hopefully there is someone who can help. My laptop freezes mid-startup at the WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\BTHidMgr.sys point. That is it. Nothing beyond that and I have tried to start up in Safe Mode, etc. The same thing. The OS is XP home. I think however, this has NOTHING to do with that driver, but the boot or BIOS being corrupt. I just don't know how to get to the solution.

Do you have a Windows CD? If yes, try a Repair, for details see: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

I'll try that. I don't have the original OS. I assume using someone else's is ok. I'll post when I get a result. Thanks

The OS on this computer is XP Home Entertainment, I attempted recommendation with an XP Pro. What occurred was that it did begin the repair, but then I was stopped multiple times (~28 times) as various dll files would not copy or install.

At the end of install, the original problem existed. I want to proceed cautiously because there are files that I cannot have deleted on there. In fact, it was just after attempting to use Nero 7 backup drive software that this problem began. I don't know if the two problems are related though.

I got a hold of an "Ultimate Bood CD for Windows" which is sort of a live cd like Linux for windows and was able to get to my files. I think I'll reinstall a new operating system now.
