The message is a warning of impending doom to your hard drive. You may believe what you want but it is inconceivable to repair a dying hard drive with software because it is hardware. Few hard drive utilities really can tell the condition of a questionable hard drive. Check disk when it works isn't a repair for a dying hard drive, it simply covers over bad sectors so that Windows cannot see them which is at best a "bandaid".If checkdisk will not complete and I was getting the dst failure notice, I would immediately replace the drive and I do this for a living so "dream on", but the best advice I can give you is backup, backup and then backup everything you do.

Ive downloaded the Drive Fitness Test v4.15 b01 (12.16.2008) - CD Image (Direct Link) onto my computer,
i canot open it, the notice comes up tp select a program frm the list.
before i burn it onto a disk and boot frm the cd do i need to install any programs, and will this solve my problem?
the laptops working fine now, its just the notice of the dst in diagnostics...
will that be sorted?

thank you
