Infinite Reboot Cycle With A Twist
Last night, my computer was fine. However, I turn it on this morning and it reboots after about a minute of showing the desktop. I try everything, and find out that if I unplug the USB cable from the modem, it boots up fine. I can then plug it back in and connect with no problems. When I turned it back on I got a message saying that windows has recovered from a serious error. I ran a virus scan (malwarebyte's anti-malware full edition), and it came up empty. But then I turn it off again and turn it on with the modem plugged in and it goes back into the infinite reboot cycle. At first I thought it was the modem driver, but since it can be connected after start up and work just fine, its probably not. I'm using XP with all the latest updates, and a speedstream modem connected by usb cable. Any Ideas?

Also, I noticed that the light on the modem verifying a usb connection stays lit, even when it is unplugged.
