Question "e:\ Access is Denied" help anyone?
Hi,

I'm hoping someone here can help me.

I've just recently set up my desktop pc. Everything was working ok until I decided that it was about time I made a backup of my external hard disk (where i store all my pictures and photos).

This is what my hdd list looks like AFTER the backup.

Prior to the backup, the E: and H: drives showed as drive icons, not folders. I'm not overly fussed about the icon, that can be changed. The problem is that now both of these come up with the error "(E or H):\Access is denied". I can get onto the drives by right clicking, then selecting "Explore", but this is a pain!

So, here's what I had done:

The external HDD is My Book (H).

Before the backup, this showed as a normal drive, access was no problem.

I used SyncBack to do the backup, selecting the newly formatted E: drive as the destination. This was also showing as an HDD and was accessible.

Once the backup completed, I loaded explorer to have a look and both the icons have to changed to those shown above and access is now denied as described above.

Does anyone have any idea what has happened and how I can rectify this so that both of these drives behave as normal? They are both NTFS fornatted, I am the only user and admin on my computer, so I didn't think it would be a security issue (though I am prepared to be corrected!)

Thanks,

Mike

**PS - Just playing about, I find that I can access both of these drives from my laptop alright. They are connected as mapped network drives. I've got no errors so far doing this! I don't understand...**
