windows xp slow after clean install
first i would like to say hello to everyone and anyone who sees this as i am new but i seem to be having a major problem

okay ill start from the beginning
i had built a computer from scratch out of old used parts
i no they are not the best but they work
most of all the hard drive i had used had vista preinstalled
i installed vista on it and every thing was working perfect
no problems with old parts on vista wierd no??
amd athlon 2000+
1gb ram
80gb hdd
okay so after about a month of vista i didnt like it anymore the special features were more annoying than useful and not worth the allocated ram use so i installed a copy of xp
it is a good copy used it many time worked every time
and my big problem is that when i installed xp from the beginning i can use it to browse the web email etc but nothing that uses any kind of graphics even moving windows lags
all updates except sp3
all of this i was able to do with vista
i know windows xp inside and out and i cant figure this out
also im not sure but i dont think it is graphics card related

thank you

sorry for the super long post

Hello.
1 This copy of XP that you have used many times. Is it retail or OEM?
2 Did you do a clean format of the hard drive to get rid of Vista before installing XP?
3 Have you checked Device Manager for missing drivers?

Would like to know more about this OEM disk that is able to be used on multiple machines.
Sounds like bootleg copy to me.
