Exclamation my computer wont run normaly in windows xp ?
hi guys

i have a serious problem

every time i boot up my computer it will get to the log on screen and then once i am there it will go slower then normal eg. takes forever to highlight the persons user name, and enter password

then it sits on the "loading personal settings" for about 10 minutes then once it loads up the wallpaper it sits at that stage for about 20 minutes and once it has loaded the icons and task bar it runs really really slow eg. you have to wait 10 mintues or more for each program to load

i eventually (with lots of paintence) got norton to run and it said that my firewall and other stuff was truned off, could this be a virus ?

also (if this is relevant) the night before i had installed the Eve Of Destruction for battlefield vietnam, also i download 5 extra custom made maps i scanned them with norton and it said no virusis

so really im not sure what the problem is, i cant rescan with norton cause it wont run in safe mode, also just 2 days after this problem my computer wont get past the boot screen i can still use safe mode, but when i try to run it normally it wont go past the boot screen

plz peoples i really need ur help with this otherwise i will have to fork out to get it fixed which i dont want to do, would a wipe of the hard drive fix the problem ?

thanx for ur help in advance

P.S good luck trying to solve this problem

If your firewall has been turned off you may have been hit with a virus

I would recommend you run HiJack This .Post the HJT log into your next request. However on your next request post your item into the Malware Forum and cancel this entry

If you have a Windows XP cd you need to run checkdisk chkdsk /) from Recovery Console:

You most likely have a dying hard drive

dacam,
Please don't post it as an attachment. Post the whole file in here as no one will open it otherwise.
