I have just tried reinstalling Windows XP using an installation CD. I didn't have one already and used this site:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r191...er=xp+winlogon
to make my own from the files already on the computer. I began setup, formatted the drive, and began installing when this message popped up:
Setup cannot copy the file: winlogon.exe
To retry, press ENTER.
If you are installing from a CD, make sure the Windows XP CD is in the CD-ROM drive.
- to skip this file, press ESC.
CAUTION: If you skip this file, Setup may not complete and Windows XP may not work properly.
-To quit Setup, press F3.
Obviously the OS won't work without winlogon.exe, so I don't know how to proceed. I don't have another CD, but I do have another computer with XP Home SP2 on it. Could I make another installation disk without that error?
