Exclamation Blue Screen
For the past two weeks, my computer has been crashing randomly, and the Blue Screen of Death as it is known pops up. I`ve attempted to use one site that explains How to Solve Windows Crashes; however, once I open a dump file that the computer created, I am illiterate as to how to read it & solve the problem .

Help

The dump files will be gibberish if opened using Notepad, they must be opened using a debug utility such as windbg: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/DevToo...g/default.mspx

You can zip 4 or 5 of your recent minidump files and attach here as a zip, rar or 7z file and we will take a look.

Yes I have a debug utility, through which I was looking at these files.
I`ve actually changed the settings of the dumps to kernel dumps according to a site I was reading, so I cannot send you the most recent dump file. However, since this problem has been chronic, I believe I can send you minidumps from about a week ago.

It looks like the BSODs are random so they don't point to a single cause. I see you are running Norton Antivirus (or some Norton security product) and appear to also be running AVG. That can cause these types of crashes, so uninstall one or the other.

If the blue screens persist I suggest next testing your RAM using Memtest86+.

I am running Norton, but if I uninstall this application, will that cause viruses to infect my computer?

You need to have one antivirus application. The issue here is that you appear to be running both Norton Antivirus and AVG at the same time. Do you see any indication on your PC that AVG is running? It may have been installed before and not completely removed, so it is still running but hidden.

Yes, I do have both Norton & AVG installed & running.
I now removed AVG, & hopefully my computer will stop experiencing this problem.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP !
I would have never been able to do this

I`m back.
& the problem still persists.
In addition, I`ve been having a ton of other problems.
My computer frequently randomly turns off & then turns back on, saying that "the computer has recovered from a serious error" once i`ve logged back onto my computer account and onto my desktop.
In addition, I have seen an error (picture of error: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ider_054/S.jpg) that comes up.

Please HELP

The picture you posted in #8 shows ialmrnt5.dll crashed, it is an Intel graphics driver. The other errors are random.

Have you tried reinstalling your graphics drivers? Also try testing your memory using Memtest86+: http://www.memtest.org/

I`ve already done the memtest, & it said that there were no errors.
How can I reinstall the graphics drivers?

Hmm..Have you got a copy of the OS?Then I suggest you try repairing it. If that doesnt work, go for a clean reinstall.

Regards.

I have tried using the Windows CD that came from the manufacturers to do a System Restore Destructive, which removed everything from my computer & then replaced it with the things that originally came on it.
The problem calmed down for a bit, but then started up again a few days later.

This sounds like a malware infection.Did you do a complete scan of your system?
