Hi,

I can not install service pack 3 for XP.

The process goes through Starting installation
· Inspecting current configuration
· creating third party driver list
· performing inventory
· checking product key
· running precesses before install
· backing up files
· creating restore point
· installing files
· updating registry keys
· finishing installation
· running precesses after install

Then after about a minute, i get "service pack 3 setup error. An error in updating your system has occured. Select OK to undo the changes that have been made.

Then it takes a while to return back to the earlier state. There is no other error message or reference number.

Can you help?

Try installing sp3 from safe mode with administrator account.

Hi guys, thanks for that but i still cant install it. Any thoughts on if i remove all previous service packs and do a windows update and try to install the whole lot again. Not sure if its possible to uninstall previous updates though
