Solved: msconfig
hi there, once again.Can someone tell me something about MSCONFIG WIN.INI tab.I see a lot of things there namely annie, kiraya, moranaki, gulabi, Kozpha, moraramsap, MSLPRINTSEQ,Scicalc along with MSconfig for 16 bit support, fonts, extensions files.What do these files do and why are they there.

As for those applications you mention, Google them, you will learn what you need and what you don't need.

dear friends i have already seen those websites and found they have a tutor on MSCONFIG startup tab when i want info on win.ini and system.ini
especially annie, kiraya, moranaki, gulabi, Kozpha, moraramsap, MSLPRINTSEQ, Scicalc all present in win.ini.google search doesnt help much which is why i posted on the forum and started the thread.

Win.ini is a text format file that can be opened with Notepad. Can you copy and paste its contents here?

Yes it is normat for msconfig to show a tab for win.ini. And Scicalc along with MSconfig for 16 bit support, fonts, extensions files are normal. I'm not sure about the others. I suspect they are leftover from some old 16-bit game or something.

i want to inform that i am using comodo firewall and avast home edition

well there is no specific file by those names but when i set the search to look in files instead of just file names.it returned the following file by the name win.ini which is what you are looking and contains the names i am pasting the contents of it along with modifications and replacing the yahoo usernames by ************,Nothing personal ,just to be on the safe side:

My guess after looking is annie, kiraya, moranaki, gulabi, Kozpha and moraramsap are Yahoo Messenger profile names, perhaps those you have chatted with before.

Everything above (and including) wvx=MPEGVideo are normal win.ini items. And SciCalc is a normal win.ini item. Not sure what MSLPPRINTSEQ is, maybe for a printer.

i donot have a printer and there is also reference to capture video and audio.is that normal and if yes what part of it can i delete.
