I just upgraded from IE 7 to IE 8 ( On my Win XP platform ). And ever since then, my default start page ( Google) refuses to launch on first go. The error always comes up - "IE cannot display the Web Page" "Diagnose Connection Problem" appears. And as soon as I click it, I do not even have to wait for it to run, my Google page comes up immediately. So, all I do is to click the Diagnose Button, then hit CANCEl, and my Google comes up. And from then on, as long as I am on the same instance of IE, all my pages load properly.

Now, here's the weird thing - if my default Start up page is "MSN" or even "CNN"- I do not have this problem. It only refuses to start with Google. I can put Google on any Tab - it is the same. It seems to just block Google for that first time.

Anyone else facing this mysterious problem ?

Hope someone can give me some pointers - other than pulling I E 8 out and re-installing IE 7. Actually, wish I had not installed IE8 !

Im not familiar with this problem, but I think there are already some updates / bug fixes for ie8. have you run the windows updates since installing the new browser ?
