Hi arjunnambiar;

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

Which Norton product and version are you using? Also which version of Windows are you using? Please let me know so I can assist you further.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi arjunnambiar,

You may need to change the settings on your phone for USB mode so that Windows detects the memory card in your phone as a drive. If you can not figure out how to do this, the easiest way around that issues is to purchase a USB card reader for your memory card and plug that into your computer. Before you do this though, please follow the steps below to properly configure Norton AntiVirus.

1. Run Windows Update to make sure that you have all of the available patches applied.

2. Open Norton AntiVirus 2009 and manually run LiveUpdate. If any updates are installed, restart your computer.

3. Open Norton AntiVirus 2009 and select the "Settings" link next to Computer. Under the "Real Time Protection" category make sure that "Removable Media Scan" is turned on.

4. Click the "Apply" and then "OK" buttons at the bottom of the window for the change to take effect.

5. Plug the card reader into your computer and Windows should detect it and assign a drive letter. Open "My Computer" and then right-click on the drive and choose "Scan With Norton AntiVirus."

Thank you,
Mike

Hi arjunnambiar,

As I had suggested in my previous response, you may need to change a setting on your phone to put it into USB drive mode so that it is recognized by Windows and assigned a drive letter. You will first want to make sure that you enable the "Removable Media Scan" in the Norton AntiVirus settings, prior to connecting the phone to your computer. Once it is assigned a drive letter under My Computer, right-click on it and choose "Norton AntiVirus->Scan."

Thanks,
Mike
