System recovery
I use windows XP. When I try to do system recovery, by pressing F10 when the computer starts up, it has no effect at all, and I can't do system recovery. I've plenty of research and I think I might have deleted my recovery partition. I don't know my partitions, I don't know nothing. How can I do system recovery? I have partition table doctor, and I don't know how to use it. How can I do system recovery?

It's so stressful. Please help

Hi littleshiner
You will have to be a little more specific as there are various recovery methods for XP. If you are referring to the recovery console then this must be installed previously or run from a windows XP installation disc.
The Automated System Recovery (ASR) requires you to have previously created a bootable floppy disc as well as CD's containing the backup files.
If you a referring to system restore then this is accessible from within the operating system under All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
Or you can go back to last known good configuration by hitting F8 on bootup.

If it is on a laptop and you deleted your recovery partition and don't own a recovery CD then that could be a little trickier. Can you explain exactly what the issue you are having is?

Hi,
What's the make and model of the machine? PC/laptop?
Did you make recovery discs when the machine was new? Or, did you receive a set of those discs with the machine?

Well I can't go into formatting my computer, I can press F10 when I turn on the computer, but it doesn't work, it just starts up normally =[

Hi,
As Sludge3000 asks: Could you explain what the problems are that make you want to carry out a system recovery.
Someone here might be able to help if you'd give a bit more info please?

my computer is slow, it's old, umm.. sometimes weird errors go on and my start button doesn't work, (button on bottom left). Sorry I don't know much about computers =/. It takes forever to install games for my nieces and such, and sometimes it doesn't work at all.

Hit start
my computer
you will see C.
this is where your windows install is.
Look for D.
if it shows the cd rom as D them you more that likely do not have a recovery partition.
how old is the computer.....what make a model
