Well, how did you get two installs of windows?

No, running out of disk space shouldn't cause your type of problems. I don't know if there is a way to uninstall one and keep the other, and I don't think it would help either. But deleting both is fairly simple Just wipe the drive.

I think you misunderstood what had to be done - you don't simply copy the file to a cd - the file is an image (iso) of the cd, you must burn it as an image. Which program are you using for burning cds?

Use CdBurnerXp. Install it and follow these instructions.

p.s.: sorry I wasn't clear about the iso file, I'm so used to dealing with them that I sometimes forget it's not common knowledge.

I have done everything you said and now the CdBurnerXp has an error on it where it won't copy image iso. Nothing right now is going very well.
Very Frustrated!!!!!

Wow, that's incredibly unlucky - seems like it was recently updated and has a bug, the new version gives me an error too. Hopefully this will be the last obstacle.

Uninstall cdburnerxp, restart, download and install the previous version.

Select the little white rectangle and click on the trash bin (delete). Select the big white rectangle (dev/sda2), delete it. You should now have a big gray rectangle (basically the entire thing). Select it, click on "new" and in the new window, select filesystem>ntfs and "create as>primary partition". Click apply and let it run.

This procedure will erase the entire drive and format it. Afterwards, you should have a big white rectangle - right click it and select "manage flags", check "boot", confirm and exit gparted.

Run windows setup.

Before I do this can you tell me why someone told me that I needed to replace the Hard Drive?? Would that have been an option?? I have been told so many different things and you seem to be the only one that has given me sound advice.
Thanks D

Well, it's always possible there may be something wrong with the harddrive. But there is no way to know just from looking at the blue screen error message.

I don't know why he told you that, but he could not have said it with any degree of certainty, unless you ran some diagnostic tests that found unrecoverable errors. And who knows, he might not be allowed to suggest the use of tools we have at our disposal (free for personal use, but not for Dell).

Anyway, you'll soon see if a format helps, no reason in debating and speculating too much.

No the tech did no diagnostic test on my computer. I just gave him the information on the screen and the error code 1000-0146.
In any case if my hard drive is bad would the procedure I’m about to do fix the problem or may I still incur the same problem?
