xp will not start
im working on this computer for a customer it ha windows xp when you start it up you get the xp splash screen and thats it no user accounts just comes up to a black screen will not start to safe mode no last known good no safe mode with command prompt no safe mode with networking just keep getting black screen. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

oh almost forgot when black screen comes up can not hit ctrl+alt+del

Try this: restart the computer and when the computer is counting memory in POST, press and hold the F8 key BEFORE the splash screen appears. You CANNOT boot into safe mde, last known good config, etc. AFTER the splash screen appears. So try pressing and holding the F8 key before the splash screen starts to try and access Safe mode. that is what i stated in my post before splash screen i hit f8 but even in safe mode or any of the other modes i still get black screen you can see mouse but nothing else and once you get black screen you cant hit ctrl+alt+del

Boot to XP cd and try running chkdsk /r in Recovery Console.

Frist thing I would do is disconnect everything in the tower except psu, 1 ram stick, video card mouse and keyboard and see if you can bootup. If yes work backwards, if no then most likley the board is bad. Also unplug everything except mouse and keyboard from outside as well and remove all pci cards too.

well i figured it out i was able to load xp on one of the harddrives was looking on how to remove extra HD noticed some heat i loaded speedfan on it and both HD's were running 152-160 degrees
