Question 2 OS on 2 HDD (XP x64)
Hello,
I need some help\advice about installing 2 operating systems on 2 different hard drivers.
I have Windows XP x64 bit on one of the HDD, and I have bought a new HDD,
I would like to install the same operating system on the new HDD,
how do I do it? Just plug-in the new HDD and install a new OS on it?
Or do I need to detach one and then install the os on the new one?

I can't find in the internet information about installing the same OS on different HDD only about different OS, does it matter anyway?

Sorry if I post in in the wrong place or if it had been answered...

Thanks in a head,
NiTRoBoX

You'll need a different version with a new license, of course, but, yes, all you need do is boot the CD for the new OS after you get the second drive up and running. Choose the second drive for the location and the dual-boot menu should be set up for you automatically if all goes as it should.

E , you have me lost. If he is installing on the same machine then why a different version with a new license? the easy way would be to copy the original drive to the new drive .

What do you mean by "different version"? I can't install the same os twice?
the key is not a problem I have bought a newer version of the os..

Thank you for the help.

There can be only one installation per license. No second installations, even on the same machine. The second will not activate, anyway.

E, with all the knowledge you have I hate to say you are wrong but!!!!

I installed XP on one hard drive. Activated this installation. I then used the free Paragon program to copy the first HD to the second HD. The first HD was already activated so when you copy that HD to the next HD you also copy the activation. I did not have to activate the second HD. to verify this I can get updates on either HD. I can pull either HD out of the PC and the other works with no problem.

If you say it works, then I'll defer to you. Since the hard drive serial is a single "hardware change", I can see the possiblility. But what you have done is nevertheless illegal, so I wouldn't advertize it. You get one installation per license.

I would bet that Vista would not be so accomodating, however.
