Unhappy My Windows XP keeps restarting
Well, I had the same problem with my laptop AND my desktop so I think I keep doing something to screw them up. I press the power button and it starts out okay, but then this screen shows up and it tells me that I need to chose safemode or start it regularly. It doesn't matter what I choose, it still restarts, sometimes showing this blue screen with some sort of STOP blah blah blah. Other places tell me I need to but Windows XP and reinstall it but I want to know if there's anything else I can do because I lost mine. Sorry I'm not computer-smart

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Your computer keeps restarting to prevent damage to itself. This could be due to a lot of different reasons (overheating, driver conflicts, faulty piece of hardware...).

Safe mode is designed to load as few things as possible to still be able to boot to windows - so that any conflicts are less likely. If you cannot get to safe mode or boot normally, there is very little you can do without a Windows XP cd.

What kind of computer is it (model)?
Does the fan start spinning when you start your PC?
You can't boot to windows at all (have you tried safe mode with command prompt)?

Did the problems start on both computers at the same time, are the symptoms the same? That could indicate an electrical surge might have damaged them.
Have you installed any new software recently? Have you been having problems with the PCs before this?
