Hello,
While trying to log into windows recovery console to fix a damaged MBR, my password kept being rejected, even though it was correct. By checking which character gets printed in the phase of selection of windows installation to log into (just prior to the point where the Administrator password has to be entered), I noticed that most foreign characters seem to be dealt with correctly (like 'í' or 'ô'), but not 'Ã'. This character appears simply as 'A'. The same goes for the lowercase variant. Using ALT+code as input method doesn't help either, since the codes at this stage don't seem to match the standard ones (ALT+0195 does not print 'Ã', but a strange symbol instead). This doesn't seem to depend on the keyboard layout chosen previously either.
I assume that this is the cause for the rejection of the Administrator password. Is there any way around this? The OS is Windows XP Professional SP3.
Thanks.
