Exclamation Norton Antivirus & Internet not working!
Can someone PLEASE help me with this problem, my antivirus wont start, my internet only works in safe mode w/ networking, and when i try to do a full system scan w/ norton in safe mode it freezes once it scans 4000 files. I've searched EVERYWHERE to find a solution but all i got was false hopes.

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: System manufacturer

Windows Dir: F:\WINDOWS
DirectX Version: DirectX 10.0 (4.10.0000.5512) (< http://www.technospot.net/blogs/download/#dxxp click> "DirectX 10 RC2 Fix3" for XP)

There was no virus when i installed sp3 my problem happened a few months after, when i downloaded something, it happened withing 5 second of me downloading the file.

Uninstall whatever non-Windows firewall or security suite you have. If that doesn't help ...

Uninstall Norton, run Symantec's Norton Removal Tool and see if you can get internet access in normal mode.

You can then reinstall Norton if desired.

After you have followed the steps suggested by TerryNet, I recommend you download both Malwarebytes Anti Malware and SuperAntiSpyware. Install both and run definition updates. Then run separate scans with each program. Delete any files found to be infected. scans. Both programs are free and can be downloaded here and here.

Why is the WINDOWS directory in F:\ and not in C:\?

I googled DirectX 10 RC2 Fix3 for XP, and it appears to have come from various file-sharing sites.

i really dont know actually.... but that doesnt cause any problems,

Follow the advice on post #3. Make sure to update the definition files in both programs before you do a scan. If either program detects problems(other than adware tracking cookies) that you have to fix, post the scan log here.

well this is just great... malwarebytes wont RUN! in safe mode or otherwise i click it and nothing happens the exe starts for like 1 sec then closes, and superantispyware wont install, it keeps saying theres a problem and needs to close.
