external monitor default position

I use my laptop (Inspiron 640m, XPpro sp3) at work where there's an external monitor. Every time I plug it in I have to specify it's on the left side of my laptop, not the right, in Display Properties > Settings.

Is there a way of setting the default position of an external monitor?
