Question XP Error Log message
I Hope this is in the right place

I've just noticed that every time I've turned my computer on for the last 12 days, Windows Defender Real Time Protection hasn't been loading, even though the WD icon is in the system tray.

I found out about this when I looked in the Event Viewer and found 3 error messages whenever I turned on the PC

Type: Error
Event ID: 3002

Windows Defender Real-Time Protection agent has encountered an error and failed to start.
User: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Agent: WindowsAddOnAgent
Error Code: 0x8007139f
Error description: The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.

and two more exactly the same but:
Agent: IEAddInsAgent
And;
Agent: IEConfigurationAgent

If I go to WD settings, uncheck the real time box, save settings and check the box again, the event log shows that it has started but when I restart the PC, I get another 3 error messeges in the log.

can anyone help?

I already have that version installed, should I re-install it anyway?

Sounds like a possible Malware infection

Go to this board, read the first "Sticky" at the top very carefully, then post your HJ log on that board for expert help.
