I recently got rid of a malicious software program, WiniFighter, from my computer, and now I can't access windows update.
It was working just fine before the attack on my PC, and after I contracted it, it wouldn't work anymore. So I'm at least 90% sure this is the fault of a program from winifighter.
I've thoroughly scoured my computer for every file that came as a result of the malware, I've run AVG, Ad-Aware, and Norton, and I'm certain that any real threatening software is gone.
Now, other programs update just fine, like AVG and Norton, so I know it's not a connection problem, though, Spyware Doctor, which I downloaded to get rid of winifighter, won't update either. It didn't from the first moment I got it (any connection?).
Somehow whatever's causing this won't allow my web browser to fully connect to that particular server at Windows.
On Firefox it always says the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
Does anyone know anything that can help me? Or will I just have to end up re-installing Windows?
