Windows XP, error with RPC Server

ran a Repair of windows XP on a machine that was fully updated and working fine. When it finished it says that the copy of windows is not genuine and it needs to be activated. So it tries to activate says there is a problem with the RPC Server. (0x000006ba) and then BSOD's. Safe mode loads fine. it still says the copy of windows is not genuine and cannot start the services to try and get it activated. I have tried running the repair again and SFC cannot run without the RPC Service so thats not an option. any ideas?

You may have repaired the system using an older CD, if the Service pack level of the CD did not match the SP level of the system you repaired, this could be the issue, I suggest you slipstream your XP cd with SP3 and try the repair again.
