my laptop got mess up pretty good
im running a IBM Thinkpad T60 run XP Pro. im a soldier currently deployed in afghanistan so resources are limited. anyways, the problems are as follows:

-windows wont minimize into the taskbar
-i cant click and drag icons
-drivers are good but no sound.
-no internet. my NIC is good

i think is might be a Blaster Virus but im not 100% sure. i know the easiest thing would be to just wipe it clean and start over but i dont have an XP disc.

any ideas on what to do??

Hi there, tzby72, and welcome to TSG.

I was having a read-up on the Blaster worm, and your problem doesn't sound like it.

I can't say that I know what would be causing your first two problems (but from first impressions would suggest a problem with Windows Explorer), but for the other two (sound and network) I would suggest going to the IBM/Lenovo website and downloading and reinstalling your drivers. This is the easiest fix to try to begin with.

Let us know how this goes, and I wish you the best over there.

Do those laptops come with a recovery partition? Some OEM systems will have a backup image on a hidden partition that can be recovered without the need of a CD... that's something you might investigate. You could also contact Lenovo to see if you can get a replacement recovery disc. Usually either of these methods will wipe the system and restore it to factory configuration, so make sure any important data is backed up.

Hope that helps... and thanks for serving

Does your T60 have an Access IBM button? This should allow you to reload the operating system. Manuals are available online from IBM as well. Their website is pretty good once you find your exact model and configuration on it.
