Question Slow Computer
My computer had 2 drives on it a C:/ and a D:/ both of which contained Windows. I deleted the D:/ because I messed it up (that's a whole different story.) Well anyway, I'm on the C:/ and I have only installed Limewire and Stop Sign yet my computer is STILL running very slow. I'm not sure why and it's getting really frusterating. I've done virus scans etc with stop sign and nothing comes up. When I went into Task Manager there were several SVCHOST.exe one of which was using anywhere from 44% to 100% of the CPU usage. dllhost.exe is using over 153,020K of the memory usage. Aren't these supposed to be normal windows programs? Why are they using up so much of my memory and CPU usage? When I watch my CPU usage after closing the SVCHOST.exe that is taking up so much of it it varies anywhere from 33% to 100% STILL. and now the System Idle Process is using up so much CPU usage. Can someone help? Do I just have a really slow computer or is something else going on? It wasn't like this before...

Thanks,
Rebecca

Well, using Limewire will surely get your computer infected sooner or later, if it's not done already...

How much RAM do you have on your computer?

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything

Thanks for replying! In answer to your question I have 1.00GB of RAM. And I'll post the Hijack log right after this post.

Sorry I forgot to add that sometimes the computer runs fine... it's kind of weird how it just decides to go extremely slow at random times.

Try a Clean Boot to isolate a culprit.
