I don't have any trouble playing video clips. I mostly use Windows Media Player 11, unless a site provides its own player to view them.

I have media player 11 also, but apparently youtube and aol video clips must be of another venue...i don't understand..cbs shows videos of their shows and not use media player? Those updates have not improved those areas at all and yet not long ago, I had no problem with youtube and aol. If its due to a recent download of any program, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. I defragged, scanned..I can't imagine other sites not doing so in order not to lose 'customers' with a stop and go function

Installing the current version of Adobe Flash Player and Sun Java Runtime Environment and setting the 4 security zones in Internet Explorer to "Default Level" seems to solve the problem for many users.

Well, like i said i never use IE, so i never messed around with their settings..but i took your advice to check out what you suggested and the default level was greyed out...so i clicked on custom level and it brought up a lot of settings one in particular that interested me....the box of windows media player was disabled. So I enabled it...but why then in the past i have had no problems with anything that was associated with it, worked just fine, even if was disabled in IE. Doesn't make much sense. By enabling it then the default lever was available and i clicked on that, applied and now we see if that would make a difference.

If "Default Level" was grayed out and a vertical slider was visible, the security zone was already set to Default Level.

Yes, i found that out after enabling java...but regardless, i still don't get the reception on videos that I once had ..that goes for aol video clips, demos of certain sites and you tube...all morning i've been searching for the possibilty of missing playets or plug ins and still after downloading some, no cigar. I nver had to go through all this searching for missing plug ins in the past. I checked java and flash and they are all working according to their sites. I even downloaded shockwave, but to no avail. This is very frustrating.

Download and install K-Lite Codec Pack 5.3.0 Full.

It'll give your computer all the video and audio codecs and plug-ins that it needs.

Uncheck "Windows media player classic" at the top of the list during the install process.

video stops and starts
well, after downloading that link you supplied and installed it, one gets intimidated with all those check box areas...one has to know what one is doing as far as checking. Regardless, it did not help one bit. I still get the stop and go in any site. Count yourself lucky if your able to view video's all the way through. I suspect its some downloads i' have done that may have corrupted the files that is needed to get smooth watching...

Let's see what a HijackThis log looks like.

Go here and click the green icon to download HijackThis 2.0.2.

Close all open windows, then install it in its default location: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.

Run a scan with it - which will take 30 seconds or less.

Save the resulting log in Notepad.

Return here, then copy-and-paste the entire log here.

boohoo222:

Why are you posting a HijackThis log here? This is Boothbay's thread and we're here to assist him. I need to see a log from his computer and not your computer. If you have a problem, then you need to start your own thread and post a log there.

Boothbay:

You've got malware in your computer, so you need to get rid of it.

Follow these instructions in the order listed.

Go here and click the green icon to download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.41.

Go here and click the green icon to download SUPERAntiSpyware 4.29.0.1004.

Close all open windows, then install them both. Make sure to update their definition files during the install process.

Restart your computer.

Start Malwarebytes and run a "quick scan".

When the scan is finished, select and allow it to fix EVERYTHING it found.

Restart your computer.

Start SUPERAntiSpyware and run a "quick scan".

When the scan is finished, select and allow it to fix EVERYTHING it found.

Restart your computer.

Start Malwarebytes again, then go to Logs(tab).

Click on the scan log entry, then click Open.

When the scan log appears in Notepad, copy-and-paste it here.

Start SUPERAntiSpyware again, then go to Preferences - Statistcs/Logs(tab).

Click on the scan log entry, then click View Log.

When the scan log appears in Notepad, copy-and-paste it here.

It appears that you've been editing the startup list in Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - Startup(tab).

When you restarted your computer afterwards, you failed to put a checkmark in and then click OK when the "System Configuration Utility" window(see screenshot) appeared.

HI, are you saying that its Malware is keeping me from enjoying my video clips? BTW, I have aol spyware and Avast...i don't think I need to add a couple of more virus programs, do you? Other than seeing malware, did you see anything that might be the cause of my problem and if i do have malware, why didn't my virus programs warn me of it?
