How to Communicate between two Windows PCs in a LAN
Hi,
I want to know how to Communicate between two Windows PCs in a LAN.
I have got Windows XP on both the computers. They are getting connected to a switch by two separate LAN(straight) cables. I can access internet in both. But how can I access files of each one from another one?
Thanks in advance,
-pkd

Hi,
With the help of these two documents suggested by Mumbodog, I am able to share the files between two computers.
But I am facing few issues as follows.
When I create a new shared folder by right clicking and changing the sharing property, the folder name appears on the My Network Places on both the computer. But when I want to again disable sharing of that folder, they don't go away from any of the system's network places and if by chance anybody clicks on them it hangs for some time and then gives an error that the folder is not accessible. The patchy solution is I delete all the shortcuts to that folder on both the systems "My Network Places". But if I want to again enable sharing of a folder, then the folder name doesn't appear on my network places. I feel I am going some where wrong. Please suggest where am I going wrong.
Thanks,
-pkd

Most people do not share and unshare as a routine, it takes a while for the network map to refresh changes sometimes.
