Unhappy Unable To Remove Corrupted Registry Entries
Hello, folks. I'm having a little trouble removing some corrupted registry entries found with the Uniblue RegistryBoost scanner. It was able to remove the other 667 entries, no problem, but these 3 just don't want to go away:

Quote:
Scan subsection: System drivers
Entries found: 2
Entries:
Entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Creative Service for CDROM Access
Value name: ImagePath
Value: C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTsvcCDA.exe
Reason: The value ImagePath in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Creative Service for CDROM Access contains an invalid path C:/WINDOWS/system32/CTsvcCDA.exe
Entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mnmsrvc
Value name: ImagePath
Value: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mnmsrvc.exe
Reason: The value ImagePath in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/mnmsrvc contains an invalid path C:/WINDOWS/system32/mnmsrvc.exe
Scan subsection: Startup section
Entries found: 1
Entries:
Entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Value name: nwiz
Value: C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\nView\nwiz.exe /install
Reason: The value nwiz in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run contains an invalid path C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\nView\nwiz.exe /install
Does anyone know if it would be okay, if I just manually deleted them, or is there another way I should be going about this?

I'm using Windows XP-64. I've had nothing but headaches with this system. I reinstalled the OS only a couple weeks ago thinking it was an incompatibility with the RAID controller, but then a few days ago problems started showing up again. So, now I'm left with hard-drive failure/corruption, or something along those lines. Does the WinXP-64 registry just have issues? Right now, the printer is dead, and my games won't run, so it bites to me. I've done a full-system scan with Avira, Spybot, and Malware bytes, and my system is clean. This machine is definitely a fail.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Here are my system specs:

Microsoft Windows xP Professional x64 Edition, Version 2003, Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.81 GHz
4.00 GB of RAM

You should not remove anything Uniblue RegistryBoost scanner tells you to remove. Never use this type of crapware if you do not want to cripple your programs and Windows itself. It's all a scam. When running a registry cleaner after a completely new Windows install, it will still find "corrupted" entries to remove! Uninstall this worthless program before you need to reinstall Windows again. But, then again, it might already be too late as I see you have some rather serious issues. You might need to reinstall after all...

I second that.
I would suggest you use the undo feature to restore the entries it's removed, then uninstall Uniblue and not use it again.

Well, this certainly is not what I have come to expect from the users on this forum. A little constructive feedback would be helpful.

Mi Amigo, THAT IS CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK. Its intended to provide you with a clear warning so you do not inflict permanent damage to your computer.

It's been demonstrated time and again registry cleaners provide no discernible improvement in performance and very often identify registry entries as corrupted or invalid which in fact are needed to perform some specific operation for a program or the OS.

If you will search through this forum, you will find this mantra repeated ad nausium by reputable members of TSG. Please take the preceding responses in the tone they were intended. These guys know from where they speak.

If you should decide to do as suggested and restore the OS to its original configuration before you ran the Uniblue RegistryBoost scanner, I suggest, after a reboot, you download HiJackThis, install it to its default location, close ALL other windows, launch HJT and click the "Scan system and save log file" button. The scan will be saved to Notebook. Copy the entire log file and paste it here in a replay to this thread.

Then perhaps someone can offer you some help with the problem you are experiencing.
