I have XP 2002 with Service Pack 3. Yesterday I updated my System Suite 8 application to version 9. The PC automatically rebooted to install the update and wouldn't easily reboot again. I eventually rebooted and left the PC with a black screen and walked away. After about an hour my desktop appeared, but trying to access anything is painfully slow (approx 15 mins per applicatio) and selective. I can't access the internet at all to try and download any fixes.
I don't had access to the original XP repair disk as the PC is second hand. I don't have floppy access therefore can't make a repair disk.
I've tried System Restore and get several error messages such as "restore cannot protect your computer please restart and try again" Despite restarting, the same error message each time. I've tried searching for previous restores and get error "RPC server is unavailable".
I've tried to copy files into the c drive boot.ini, ntdetect and ntldr to no avail. I've downloaded and run from CD apps like Dr Web, AFT Cleaner, Super anti spyware and MBAM and nothing is found. I've tried un-installing System Suite and the PC won't let me, further error messages.
I've had differing error messages when trying to re-boot from PXE-E53: No boot filename received & PXE-MOF: Exiting bootmanage PXE ROM - Operating system not found> I've had Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library errors Programme:commonfiles\RoxioShared\9.0\Sharedcom\roxwatchtray9.exe
I think I've covered most of it. Anyone fancy a challenge? I'd appreciate it so much
Hi Dan O and thanks for replying. Yes I can get into safe mode via F8, again it takes about 40 mins to finally boot up.
I've tried uninstalling the download but again recieve error messages saying the previous version is incomplete therefore I'm unable to uninstall this version.
I've had a butchers around the BIOS and can find nothing that jumps out at me.
