Solved: BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH? Any Advice?
I am running XP on a Dell Inspiron 1700 laptop, the other day I decided to run an anti virus program which deteched a virus and deleted it, but to complete the process it asked me to restart my computer, which I did.

Now on start up I get the blue screen of death, even if i try to access safe mode!!!

I dont mind reformating my laptop but I don't have a disk, can anyone be of help?

whats on the bluescreen ?

I think you will need the Disks to go much further -
Just an off chance (has fixed black screens before) remove the battery

I suspect the antivirus has removed a system file

It says the folloring

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

if this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if the screen appears again follow these steps:

check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. if this is a new installation, ask you hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

if the problem continues disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software disable BIOS memory option such as chacing or shadowing. if you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

Techinical information:
*** STOP: 0x000000ED (0xc0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
