Lost history
I used to be able to click on the arrow to the right of my browser bar to see previous web search history. I can't do this any longer, clicking on the arrow has no response. Any suggestions please

what version of browser ?

to see history in Ie7 / 8
Use the star on left hand side and select history

tools
Internet options
Settings
See how long you have history set to keep

Do you see an empty drop down menu or no drop down menu at all when clicking on the arrow?

To "etaf" I'm using Google toolbar and IE8. I've gone back to IE7 but things are just the same so I've reinstalled IE8. History is set to keep for 20 days
To "Phantom010" when I click on the arrow the drop down box doesn't appear at all.

Alijay, As etaf stated click on the Favorites toolbar button with the star to open it then click the History tab.

Thanks Tufenut
Yes I know I can find history that way but I used to be able to click on the little arrow to the right of my browser bar and I'd get a drop down box with my history in it which was very handy and quick to go back to a previously visited site. Now that facility has disappeared and I'd like to get it back!!

Try running IE8 without the Add-ons.

If no luck, open Internet Explorer, click on Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > click on Reset.

I've tried both these options but they make no difference!

It's also quite possible that if you're deleting browsing history, the drop down menu won't drop down.

Open Internet Explorer,

Click on Tools > Internet Options > Content tab > AutoComplete Settings.

Under Address bar, check Browsing history and Favorites

Press OK.

Now try the drop down menu in the address bar.

Click on the Advanced tab > under Browsing > put a check mark on Enable suggested sites.

Press OK.

That's the only fix I can think of. It seems to be the way IE8 works.

Think you're right, bit of a bummer though. Maybe they will sort it out sometime. Anyway thanks for all your suggestions.
