The extended Safe Mode menu includes "Disable automatic restart on system failure" so tap Function 8 to see that menu and highlight that option. Note the message on the blue screen and post it back here and someone will doubtless advise.

Are you now trying to get the XP SP1 or XP SP2 installation working? Is it a legitimate XP for this machine, which will have no problems with Microsoft validation?

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps.
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified to the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.Try changing video adapters, check with your handware vendor for any Bios updates. Disable Bios memory options such as caching or shawdowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced startup options (Then select Safe Mode)

Try installing it on that machine. (I assumed from "... on another mobo" that you actually installed on a different machine.)

http://support.microsoft.com/xpsp2getinstall When SP2 first came out there were a lot of problems , mostly from people not reading the steps for installing . Read these over thoroughly and make sure you have not missed any steps .

With that attitude you'll get no more unhelpful advice from me either. Dust Sailor is a highly regarded poster in this Forum and your comment is wholly uncalled for. I'm not going to report this but some probably will. If you get a three day tiem out you won't get this problem fixe at all. An apology is appropriate.

I haven't said anything wrong but i was rather associated with people that do not read or follow steps. With this professionalism, when people are desperate to fix issues the last thing you need is for someone to tell you how stupid you are. Am haven't come here for people to call me names and you shouldn't justify my attitude either saga with all due respect. You can report me, because i done nothing wrong. Am not apologizing to anyone. Thanks.

Sounds to me like this is a driver issue if it works in Safe Mode and will not start windows normally. There is a conflict that needs to be resolved and more often than not it is the video adapter..

Try booting is safe mode and enable networking so you can search for more compatible drivers and confirm that the device manager is not showing conflicts..

This really is improper as stated by another member...furthermore his information is useful as it would be the first steps to trouble shooting the problem.

For whats its worth I have seen your same error, that in the end was failing ram....go figure
