Unhappy major problem. no C drive just F drive help plz.
ok my problem is that i got a computer recently and i wasn't the one installing windows on it and there is no C drive. so i did some research and found out that the only way that could happen is if somone had a external hard drive attached and made that the C drive so for that reason i am left with a F drive.
with the F drive i am unable to download drivers for sound or in fact any drivers at all they all ask to clear some space on the c drive "which i do not have". so i looked around my computer and found out that i only have a F drive, A drive, E drive...
the a and e drives are for floppy and cd-rw and the f is my hard disk drive witch holds everything on my computer. i have looked on the web and found out that you could make a virtual drive so i tryed it there where 2 commands i tryed both without success here are the comands i put in.
Sub F: \Virtual_C
Subst F C:\windows
~~~~~
neither have worked so i am at a loss here.
any help would be nice.
If you have created the bat file as is told in that link, then do this:
1. store this bat file anywhere on F drive.
2. Right click the bat file and select "Send To" -> Desktop (create shortcut).
3. You'll get a shortcut on desktop. Now right click on "shortcut" which is on desktop and select copy.
4. Go to, F:\Documents And Settings\
5. there should be a folder with name same as your windows user name.
6. then go to that folder, then go to folder "Start Menu"->"Programs"->"Startup"
7. Paste the shortcut there.
8. Verify by going to Start->All Programs->Startup, you should see the shortcut here.
9. Restart and check.
cheers
