xp explorer does not launch

xp explorer does not launch
the xp login screen comes up, when i login, the desktop wallpaper shows up but nothing else. Not the task bar, not desktopo icons even. I can press ctrl alt delete to brink up the task manager, but thats all i can do, i cannot run programs when i try from in the task manager. I attempted to reinstall the system but the problem persists.

Please help, i have tried everything i can think of

Hello. When you say reinstall system do you mean system restore? Have you tried that? If not I suggest you do.

In Task Manager>Processes, click the File menu and New Task. Type explorer.exe and hit the Enter key. That should bring up the Taskbar and your icons.

To achieve daisysdaddy's suggestion, type rstrui.exe instead of explorer but it's worth trying to open Explorer first.

I also have the same problem. Explorer.exe fails to start. I have tried going to the task manager and typing explorer.exe. It doesn't work. I was told that my explorer.exe file was corrupt. What can I do to replace the file or fix it? I don't have my windows xp disc.
