CPU Spike but I don't see the process responsible
Hello,

I've had a number of issues the past two weeks and my most recent one is CPU spiking. At first it seemed to be Firefox because it was floating from 80 - 90 and using almost 100%. When I closed and reopened its stopped, but I then I had random spikes from 30 - 100, but cannot figure out what the cause is; even after 20 minutes of watching the processes. Any know what that might be?

Thanks

Welcome to TSG!

Set Task Manager to sort by CPU Usage.
The processes using the most CPU will jump to the top, and hopefully stay long enough for you to read the names. You can then sort by Image Name to monitor a particular process.

You can also try with View | Update Speed set to Low or High to see if that helps.

Sorting by CPU Time can show the processes that have used the most total CPU time.
