Angry Ghosts in the Machine
My computer operates normally for several hours at a time then for no reason switches itself off then continues turning itself off and on till unplugged from the wall. left overnight it continues normally next morning.

Sounds like a heat related problem. Check all fans for proper operation.
Check and clean all vents and air flow paths.
Then I would start looking at the power supply like checking voltages when system starts
to act out.
