click > start > control panel > sounds and audio devices > go to the sounds tab > scroll down to windows explorer and click on start navigation.there is a drop down box below that ,change it to NONE.
click apply then ok

You can stop all sounds from your speakers thusly:

Start>Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Volume Control

Click "Mute All"

no dear, i want to listen music on my desktop, but i dont want event sounds.

....... finally, i got myself solution for the problem.
solution : even we select "no sounds" in sound scheme, some sounds files are still taken in some program, (ex.windows explorer, windows messenger etc.) in windows explorer i desable to ''no sounds'' in all events.

i dont know this problem occurs in all the desktop or in windows XP pro SP2
because my PC is Lenovo and OS is windows XP pro SP2
