I have just bought a replacement battery for my Sony VAIO VGN-A517B. It is not a Sony Battery, but I am sure it is compatible. However, when I try to charge the battery I get the message 'An access denied error was returned while attempting to charge a service. You may need to log on using an Administrator account to make the specific changes. I have tried Start - run - msconfig - set-up and unticking ISBMgr and although this remains unticked, I get a further message saying that access is still denied. I have tried using Safe Mode and logging on as an Administrator, but this has not worked either. I have only done these things under instruction from the firm that the supplied the battery - I am not really computer literate - so please treat me as illiterate when replying!! Thank you.
