Help Install itunes in windows xp
Hello, Ive reviewed all the posting on installing itunes on xp . However Im still not able to find what to do nor how. This is what is happening for me> I am able to install itunes 6.05 and lower but it will not work, says that it installed incorrectly? When I attemp to install a series 7 and above the error code says HK local Machine\softwear\classes\pcast\shell\command\ Now when I go to look for this in (registry) it is not there. What do I do ... my system is win xp .

I didn't have that key either so I downoaded and installed iTunes 9.0 form the Apple website. I now have pcast\shell\open\command and the relevant command just points to the exe fle to open the programme. Have a trwal through your Add and Remove Programmes list to see if there's anything relating to iTunes or Quick Time in there and uninstall it if there is. Go to http://www.piriform.com and download CCleaner, install that and click the Issues button. Click to Scan and when faced with a load of Registry errors, accept the offer of a backup before clicking to fix them all. This is a fairly low level Registry cleaner and only gets rid of clutter, not major or essential keys.

Restart the machine and then restart it again. Try once more to install from a fresh download from Apple and see if that helped.

OK I've done worked with the install of http://www.piriform.com/ and was able to install for itunes (Yea Me ) but now there is a pop up box That now says ITuneshelper.exe unable to Locate Component This application has failed to start because QTCF.dll was not found. Re installing the application may fix this problem. Ok fine I did what it said and re installed Itunes. But the box will not go away and Im unable to open itunes!. OMG Im lost with this.

Well done for getting so far but I'm afraid I don't see why a critical file for Quick Time should be missing from the download. Apple's software is usually bullet proof as far as I know. I have that file and you;re welcome to a copy by e-mail but first, have a look in C:\ProgrammeFiles\QuickTime\QTSystem to see if yours is present and correct. That may tell someone what's gong on in there.
