XP Service Pack 3 stand-alone version
Does anyone have a link from Microsoft's Website that you can download the XP Service Pack 3 for an offline installation? I am helping someone with a fresh install of XP and they have dial up, so when they go to the Microsoft Update page, it times out (gives an error).

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Jack, but I already saw that one... if you look in the Overview you would see that it's not for 1 computer, that's more for a network (multi-user) install.

That full 316 MB SP3 upgrade is what you want to download and burn off to a CD-R so you can install it in any computer that needs it.

At dial-up speed, it would take more like 18 hours to download - if her ISP allowed it and didn't "time out" first.

The last time that I bought a 50-pack of "Sony" 1x - 48x CD-R's, I paid about $10.00 for it.

Don't go for el-cheapo generic brand CD-R's just to save a few dollars because you'll wind up with bad burns and defective disks and stored disks that don't last long.

It's a 316 Mb file but at the end of the day, it's only an executable file - mine lives on a memory stick with plenty of spare space. I just threw it into a small server in fifteen minutes.
