Solved: cd light flashes on boot up
When booting up Xp it seems to stall on cd, light keeps flashing. On front panelt the number 1 is flashing, number 3 and 4 are steady.

if there is a cd in the cd drive take it out. your computer is trying to boot from it.

if there isnt a cd in the cd drive, when your computer is starting open your bios. your computer should say something about what ket to push to enter setup and change the boot settings to boot your hard drive first instead of cd.

There is no CD in the drive. Computer will not go any further in boot sequence. It just sits there and does nothing but flashes on the CD drive.

try starting it and when the cd light blinks, eject the tray. if worse comes to worse you can unplug the power to the drive to be able to start your computer up.

Problem solved. Bad memory, replaced it and computer works fine.
