Explorer.exe not working
Big problem i am having with my computer. For some reason Explorer.exe is not working for me, because of this i can't see any icons or taskbar on my computer, just my background photo. To top it off, i can't access the internet (I am on my sisters computer), and i can't access Safe mode.

I have to viruses on my computer which i think is causing this, but i have no way of getting them off, my anti virus programs aren't working. I am getting a message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

I can't do anything really, i am close to just re-installing windows. I can't save my files (photos, and documents) luckily i don't have any that are not replaceable.

Does anyone have a computer IQ over 4, which is probably what mine is.

When your at the desktop do Ctrl+Alt+delete Task manager should come up. Click File \ New Task and type explorer.exe and hit OK. Did your icons and task bar come up? Yes--No.

Try expanding explorer from the XP CD. "X" being the cd\rom drive letter so change it appropriately. Open the command prompt and type:

expand x:\i386\explorer.ex_ C:\Windows\explorer.exe
