xvidcore.dll not found Windows Movie Maker?
Hi, I get this error but it is random, sometimes when I try to import videos , sometimes I dont get this error and I can import videos. This error seems to be coming up nearly every time I try to open a saved project
Also WMM is running unbeleivably slow, to import a video can take 10 minutes or open a saved project can take 20 minutes
I downloaded xvid codec >> Xvid-1.2.2-07062009.exe but this has not resolved the problem.
I was going to uninstall and reinstall this program but could not find it in Add /Remove programs?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Zac

download installed codec and run. The program will list all the Codec drivers and DirectShow filters, start off disabling any codec missing (in color).

Also my ZoneAlarm brings up this warning for nirsoft, I downloaded installedcodec 1.10 from another US mirror site.
.
ZoneAlarm has found that http://nirsoft.net may be unsafe.
This website has been known to distribute spyware.

The author states "I have never had any Virus/Trojan/Spyware in my tools".

http://nirsoft.net/about_nirsoft_freeware.html

So I would not worry about, he has created some password recovery tools that could be abused for illegitimate purposes so antivirus may vendors may classify the site as distributing malicious code.

try disabling the all entries referencing the xvidcore.dll. please note that you might not be able to play files with the xvid codec afterwards

Please note that both common used applications Itunes/QuickTime and Adobe Acrobat Reader include the xvidcore.dll codec in there products so it may be worth re-installing those products if you have them installed.

Make sure to re-enable the codec before attempting the repair.
