I have Windows XP SP2 on a dell dimension 4600 with 1.5GB memory. Over the last week, whenever I leave the computer on for a couple of hours, I lose my internet connection. If I try ctl-alt-del to check system status I get the error 0xc0000017 error. If I try to access my network settings I get the error "Error loading netshell.dll DLL initialization failed."
The event viewer only shows a server error saying "server was unable to alllocate from system nonpaged because pool was empty."
I have tried the suggestions I have read about elsewhere on this site. The temperature does not rise and in fact drops to around 32 deg celcius. I have increased the virtual memory also.
I will note that the pagefile space is 3.6GB.
SysInfo at the time of the internet loss showed 843MB of physical memory available with 2GB of virtual memory available.
Thanks for your help.
