xp big problems

HELP!!!!! computer started doing funny things first some internet pages i.e. hotmailwould not open or freeze the bottom taskbar has changed colour from blue to grey, cant switch users.also when i tried to restore there was no restore points even though it was turned on. have run chkdsk malwarebytes spyware blaster,avg ,window washer,spybot,sophos anti root kit still no good
also forgot to say the font size has gone small, ran virus check no virus done disc cleanup removed cookies and files in tools .Also noticed my taskbar on the bottom next to the clock have gone ie volume mute button all that is there is the avg logo
i dont want to lose anything

That really sounds like a virus...it could have compromised AVG awhile ago, and made it SEEM like AVG was running properly and updating properly, but in reality it wasn't. If a virus can somehow get past your antivirus, it can easily trick the antivirus into thinking it's actually working, when it really isn't.

I would suggest downloading the newest AVG on another computer. Put it onto a CD or flash drive, and then boot your current computer into safe mode without networking. Install the newest AVG over the oldest one, or if it won't let you do that, then uninstall your current AVG and install the newest one, THEN run a virus scan.

If the scan still comes up clean, try running your MalwareBytes, Spyware Blaster, Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc, in safe mode, and see if they can find anything.

If ALL of those come up clean...see if you can do a repair of Windows, because that's a heck of a lot of random problems.

have done this but
have all sorts of problems now printer wont work no ports available in hardware devices the box is empty.i have read a few post and it might be aproposfix virus also now my mouse wont work please help someone how can i do anything without a mouse

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

You need to run HijackThis in Normal Mode.

You do have two antivirus programs, AVG and CA. This will surely cause conflicts and render your computer more vulnerable. You should uninstall one, preferably CA.

Start your computer in normal mode before doing a scan with HijackThis, as Phantom010 advised, because all the log entries won't appear when you start in safe mode.

Make sure to close all open windows before starting HijackThis and running a scan.

I agree. Get rid of CA Internet Security Suite and keep AVG.

You also need to upgrade AVG to version 9. It'll install over and replace version 8. Decline to install the AVG toolbar.

thnx guys i cant remove ca it wont let me removed iobit and spybot trying to download avg9 it wont let me have saved it to desktop and then click run but when i put language english in hit next it just freezes doesnt help without a mouse

After you've restarted, go into the C:\Program Files folder and delete the Spybot and IObit folders - if they're still there.

have removed all folders except CA WHEN I TRY TO REMOVE THAT I GET MESSAGE SAYING CANNOT DELETE CCSCHEDULERSVC.EXE ACCESS DENIED

CA is quite a pain to remove. Go HERE for help.
